Quick answer: MagLink Pro Xtend ($89) only makes sense if you own an Alpha wheelbase and more than one Zeus wheel. For a single wheel, skip it and just buy MagLink Pro.
We will be straight with you: MagLink Pro Xtend is the most situational part in the entire Zeus range. For most people it is the wrong answer, and we would rather tell you that up front than have you buy a part you don't need. But for one specific kind of setup, it is genuinely useful. Here is how to tell which camp you are in.
What It Is
MagLink Pro Xtend brings full Zeus (and Neo) compatibility to an Alpha wheelbase.
It mounts on the base, and a single MagLink Pro adapter then connects onto the Xtend itself, so the connection lives on the base side rather than on each individual wheel.
The One Situation It Makes Sense
The Xtend earns its place when both of these are true:
• You run an Alpha wheelbase, and
• You own more than one Zeus wheel that you swap between (say a Formula for open-wheel and a Sport for drift or rally).
In that scenario, the Xtend lets one MagLink Pro on the base serve every wheel you own. Instead of buying and fitting a separate MagLink Pro to each wheel, you set it up once and swap wheels freely. For a multi-wheel Alpha collection, that saves money and keeps things tidy.
When To Skip It
If you own a single Zeus wheel, the Xtend does nothing for you. You would still need a MagLink Pro for that one wheel either way, so the Xtend is just an extra $89 on top with no benefit. Buy MagLink Pro on its own and you are done.
And if you are on an Alpha EVO or a third-party base, the Xtend isn't your part at all. EVO owners go wireless with AirLink or wired with MagLink Pro; third-party owners use MagLink Pro.
The Honest Summary
MagLink Pro Xtend is a niche convenience for a specific group: Alpha owners with several Zeus wheels. If that is you, it is a smart, money-saving add-on. If it is not, you can safely ignore it, and we would rather you spent the $89 elsewhere in your rig.
